A row of cinema screens show different scenes from John Akomfrah's work 'Purple'

I talked to John Akomfrah on his latest film Purple, currently screening at the Barbican Centre, London. It was a privilege to be able to chat to Akomfrah, who gave such a clear and concise summary of the relations between the capitalist ideal of progress and our situation today and the need for the fight against climate-change to consider the shape of discourse and aesthetics as much as data.

We keep saying, Oh we're not experts, we don't know the science of it, but I don't buy the idea you can't speak about housing, or the economy, or how much you earn because you're not an economist.

The exhibition review, John Akomfrah, is up on Tank Magazine.
